My custom design upgrades the Yaesu MD-100
I've been experimenting with MANY headsets over the last years, I had previously used
the stock dynamic element
til now.  This element far exceeds the stock mic specs for optimum use with todays radio technology.
I originally designed the application as a direct solder in replacement that brought Hi-Fi audio and new life to my old D-104 and I now have it for the MD-100 in a shock mount version.  This is an electret mic element that replaces your stock dynamic element, audio is no longer restricted and has a wide, flat response or 50 Hz - 16 kHz to give nice natural sound.
It's a 20 minute job to change out your muffled dynamic element, some easy soldering required - it works great!!
Finally, a great alternative to the HC-ContestSound element offered by celebrity hams!

This is a wide range electret element that is powered by and works with Yaesu radios having the 8 pin mic connector that has voltage -
450, 817, 847, 857, 897, 920, 950, 991, 2000, 2000D, 1000MP, 1000MP Mk V, Field, FTDX1200, FTDX3000, FTDX5000, FTDX9000...  THIS WILL NOT WORK ON THE FT-757, 840, 900, 990, FT1000 or FT1000D Radios as t
here's no voltage on pin 2 of the radio mike connector.
