Why do I need to spend extra on an interface?
An interface is a small computer system allowing a new Stereo to communicate with your vehicle’s computer system.
If you install a new aftermarket radio
without
using an interface (the standard security features of the vehicle will be lost)
This is due to vehicle manufactures running part of the vehicle’s computer system through the OEM radio.
How do I tell if I need an Interface?
R.A.P (Feature) is the obvious signature, th
at you'll need a Premium Interface
RAP=(If Current) Factory Radio Continues to play when pulling key from Ignition (turns off when door is opened)
R.A.P - is short for Retains Accessory Power - (VSS, CanBus, and other Digital Systems Use this feature)
Premium Systems from the Factory - which is usually anything other than Base Model.
If your vehicle is listed in the compatibility and you have an amplifier/subwoofer
Also, if you have VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor)
Functions lost include, but not limited to:
Warning chimes keys left in ignition, lights left on, low fuel etc.
