The Neuner & Hornsteiner firm refers back to the Neuner dynasty of violin makers, one of the oldest and most respected families in Mittenwald and went on to
define the standards of the Mittenwald craft for many years. They incorporated the influences of the finest international violin-making schools and were highly successful around the globe.
Honey
golden yellow varnish covers the faint tiger maple two piece back with matching ribs. The well chosen top is made of strong, straight grained spruce.
Elegant
deep cut scroll, meticulously laid out purfling, Gorgeously designed Guarnerinan styled f-holes, delicately carved corners, well defined edge work.
The inside workmanship is fine too! Its clean and polished with all four corners are fully blocked and reinforced by lining strips of wood.
With the type of workmanship you would come to expect from a world class violin making firm.
The violin’s inside label reads:
“Germany”
The violin is in wonderful condition!! it’s been well loved and well taken care of for over a century. With no damage, cracks or repairs to the top, peg box, scroll or ribs. The upper back where the neck meets the body looks to have had some repair done at some point including a secure repaired crack to the upper left rib see picture #12.
All joints and seams are tightly sealed, in the back, top, sides and anywhere in between.
