    Description

Civil War--Southern issue by a Confederate Railroad--
the New Orleans, Jackson, & Great Northern.
    Three Dollar note
    . Issued at
    New Orleans
    Nov. 16th, 1861
. Hand signed and hand numbered. Reverse shows it was printed on recycled paper from unissued Port Gibson notes.   Good, missing a bit of corner in lower right corner. 2 3/4 by 6 1/8 inches.  There are two varieties of these notes.  This variety has the denomination vertical on right end; the other has
    Liberty
anointing Eagle.    All coins were hoarded and the Confederacy, states, banks, insurance companies, merchants, and railroads issued notes in order to keep going.  What a story these notes could tell if they could talk.
Guaranteed to be a genuine, original Southern Civil War note.
